It's not just a new year, it's also a new decade. It's a great time for us to do some new things in our lives. One area that women often struggle with is focusing on themselves. There is a feeling of guilt if they take the time to do something just for them. They think about all the things they could do and never take the time to do it.

But in 2020 you should do something else. Time out for these guilt feelings. They are worth it and should be at ease if you want to spend time doing something you want to do instead of caring for others. I know it might be difficult for some of you, but come on … you can do it. You have to recognize that you have to refill yourself if you want to continue working at an optimal level for others. If you are one of those women who say, "I just don't have time for …", this is for you. If you are burned out or frustrated, you are really not good to the people you want to be great for.

Below is my list of tips without feeling guilty:

  1. museumDecide what you want to do – You may want to go to the gym or take a yoga class. You might want to spend a Saturday in the museum without the kids. Whatever it is, sit down and make a list of all the things you want to do, but always seem to postpone because there never seems to be enough time.
  2. Make the time in your life and on your calendar – It is so important. So often, as women, we don't take time for ourselves. If you have a choice of doing something that we want to do or doing something for someone else, we often choose someone else's option. But write it in ink on your calendar and refuse to make changes

  3. Make yourself a priority – It is your time now. You have been deleted from your list long enough. Stop saying yes if you should say no. Start slowly by planning a small amount of time just for you. Raise it if you feel more comfortable.

  4. Get a responsible partner – ..and are mutually responsible for finding "me" every day.

It may seem uncomfortable at first, but if you work on it every day it gets easier. And you will find that you enjoy life so much more.
