The head that was once crowned with thorns
Is now crowned with glory;
A royal diadem adorns
The forehead of the mighty Victor.

The highest place that heaven offers
Is his, is his right
The king of kings and lord of lords,
And the eternal light of heaven:

The joy of all who live above
The joy of everyone below
Whom he reveals his love to
And granted to know his name.

For them the cross with all its shame,
With all his grace it is given;
Your name is an everlasting name
Your joy the joy of heaven.

You suffer with the Lord below
You rule with him above;
Your profit and your pleasure in knowing
The secret of his love.

The cross that he carried is life and health,
Though shame and death for him;
The hope of his people, the wealth of his people,
Your eternal theme.
