Around eight billion bottles of Coca-Cola are dumped or incinerated in only six developing countries each year, according to research by the Christian charity Tearfund. It is estimated that more than half a million tons of plastic containers are thrown away every year by Coca-Cola and three other multinationals in China, India, the Philippines, Brazil, Mexico and Nigeria.
