Rest in God's fidelity

1 Corinthians 1: 1-9

When plans are frustrated or life seems to be falling apart, people often ask: Has God left me? Why didn't he answer my prayers? The Bible offers encouragement for such times by assuring us of our Father's faithfulness: "Know, therefore, that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps his covenant and kindness up to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments "(Deuteronomy 7: 9).

Five attributes of God make this possible. First, he is omniscient, which means that he knows everything, including all needs, thoughts, infirmities, desires, and life situations in the past, present, and future. Next, the Lord is almighty or almighty, so nothing is too difficult for him (Jer. 32:17). Then it is omnipresent – since it exists everywhere at the same time, it is never out of reach.

Besides, our Heavenly Father cannot lie. Everything he says is true and reliable. And finally, God is immutable. Our circumstances and the world around us seem to be constantly changing, and the Lord can even change the way he interacts with humanity in different generations. But his character is always the same. If Scripture tells us that God is faithful, we can rely on that promise.

Circumstances can be painful. But even when situations seem overwhelming, believers can trust that our sovereign Lord knows everything, is in control, and does everything lovingly for the good of his children. We can be sure that the immutable God of all creation will take care of us.
