Pricey Emmie Blue from Lia Louis
Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis is a beautiful contemporary novel about friendship, love and forlornness.
The novel is beautifully written and very emotionally charged. It is about feeling lost and longing for belonging.
I loved Emmie Blue, the main character with her big heart and her search for a home. Setbacks didn't let them down. Her heart and her enormous ability to love kept her going when most of us went down. She brought out the motherly mother gene in me when I just wanted to put my arms around her and give her a home.
A family is everything Emmie Blue wants – a family that you love and can be loved. There are some nice friendships within the novel. There are friendships that sacrifice themselves for love.
There was the issue of rejection that broke my heart. No child, no matter how old it should ever be, should be rejected and starved to death.
Dear Emmie Blue was a bittersweet novel and so beautifully written. My heart and soul are full of love because the love that Emmie Blue had is contagious. The reader cannot help but love them. Dear Emmie Blue was a wonderful debut novel. I can't wait to read more about Lia Louis. Don't forget the handkerchiefs!
I will leave you a powerful quote:
"No one ever spoke about the money he saved, the car he had, the vacation he went on. They … missed him … because that was enough."
What legacy do you leave?
