"O how the grace of God amazes me" by Emmanuel T. Sibomana
How amazed I am by the grace of God!
It freed me from my bonds and freed me!
What did it do?
His own will, as far as I know
As I now show, set me free.
My god chose me, although one of nothing,
Sitting next to my king in the heavenly yard.
Hear what my lord did.
O the love that made him run
To meet his stray son! That was what God did.
Not for my justice, because I have none
But for his mercy, Jesus, son of God,
Suffering on Calvary tree;
He was crucified with thieves;
His grace was great for me, his stubborn.
And when I think of it, like on Calvary
He bore the penalty of sin instead of me
I wonder in amazement why he
The sinless should die
For someone as mean as me; My savior he!
Now my whole heart's desire to stay
In him, my dear savior, in him to hide
My shield and Buckler He,
Cov & ring and protect me;
I am safe from Satan's arrows by his side.
Lord Jesus, hear my prayer convey your grace;
When evil thoughts arise from Satan's art,
O, drive them all away
And do you do from day to day?
Hold me under your rule, king of my heart.
Come on now, me all, eyes, ears and voice.
Accompany me, creation everyone, with joyful noise:
Praise the one who broke the chain
Keep me in the domain of sin
And set me free again! Sing and rejoice!
