Home Secretary, Priti Patel, said the government will not suspend its public funding (NRPF) policy for the duration of the year, although the prime minister has apparently questioned its fairness (News, June 5).

NRPF prevents migrants who have not yet been permanently resident in the UK from receiving benefits such as universal loans, tax credits, and child and housing benefits. The children's society is committed to ensuring that the NRPF is suspended during the pandemic (News, May 1).
