A poem for Father's Day

My father was always there for me

Trips to Warley Woods

Step through the leaves in autumn

Saturdays with Nanny

A nighttime rendition of Edelweiss

Never a crossword puzzle

Always ready to play.

When I got older

Saturday night at Brandon

Watch Speedway in the longitude and latitude of the country

holiday at the sea

And in the valleys.

And then marriage and children

Papa becomes grandpa

Who will be the boss

Ready to kick a ball

Tell stories from a long time ago

And then … a great-grandfather

But always

For me … my father

And i love him.
