Lost Down Deep by Sara Davison is a wonderful Christian contemporary tension that you will have while reading on the edge of your seat. It is part of the mosaic collection.

The novel is about temporary amnesia, as a character forgets its recent past but remembers its relationship with God. This shows the reader how important it is to be deeply rooted in God. No matter what happens, we remember who we are.

Prayer is important. "God had answered her prayer." God longs to answer our prayers. They may be as simple as "help" or as long as we want, but God hears and God answers.

Forgiveness and grace are two main themes. We are often the most difficult to forgive ourselves. "You still can't forgive yourself … So your court is higher than God's." If we do not forgive ourselves, we become guilty of hubris. We must listen to God who says that we are forgiven and we must receive His free gift of grace. Grace does not cost us anything, but it costs Jesus everything. We can't throw it back in his face.

A character explains: "You still have a place in my heart that nobody could occupy … otherwise." This reminds us that God loves each of us with a unique, eternal love. When we are away from him, he waits for us to return. The reader sees a lost return.

Our guilt will never be appeased by anything other than God's grace. "I drank a lot and tried to forget everything." The bottom of a bottle is not the answer that God's love is.

The characters are all well drawn, realistic and personable. There was an atmosphere of love and warmth that enveloped the reader.

I loved Lost Down Deep. It was reading that consumed me. I'm looking forward to much more from Sara Davison.

I got this book for free. A positive rating was not required and all views expressed are my own.
