Lectionary – 12th Sunday after Pentecost (12 months A)
With the beginning of a new liturgical year, we have published a new feature on our website, a weekly poetry contribution that is in line with this week's readings (Revised Common Lectionary).
We offer a wide selection of classical and contemporary poems by various poets that stimulate our imaginations with thoughts about how the biblical text speaks to us in the 21st century. We hope that these poems will be fruitful not only for preachers preaching these texts this coming Sunday, but also for members of the Church in the pews to prepare our minds for the encounter with the biblical texts.
"Freedom, justice, peace and lasting joy (arise)
when the poet comes, when the poet speaks,
when the preacher comes as a poet. "
– Walter Brueggemann
