Disappointment after MPs permitted divorce with out fault

The Christian Institute expressed disappointment after MEPs overwhelmingly voted for major changes to divorce laws in England and Wales.
In the most radical change in divorce laws in half a century, reforms will cut the time it takes to get a divorce to six months and eliminate the need for spouses to demonstrate inappropriate behavior.
The law on divorce, dissolution and separation is due to come into force in the fall of 2021 after it was passed by the lower house yesterday.
During last night's debate, MEPs rejected an amendment to extend the period from six months to one year.
Fiona Bruce, a Congleton MP, was one of those who spoke out against the bill and said "he is sending the wrong message at the wrong time".
"An innocent divorce is really a state-recognized unilateral divorce," she said.
"The ministers like to say that it's only about the divorce process and not about marriage. They are wrong. Eliminating errors sends a signal that marriage can be ended unilaterally without the party that remains recourse is granted. "
She added: "An easier and faster divorce will inevitably change the type of commitment that is made to marriage, as those who do realize that it is something that can be ended easily and quickly without proof need that the relationship is broken down. "
Sir Edward Leigh said the government was sending the wrong message "that marriage is not one of the most valuable things in the world" and warned that "the worst would be hurt the most".
In response to the vote that took place on the same day Parliament passed extreme abortion rules in Northern Ireland, the Christian Institute said it was "deeply disappointed" with MEPs as "concerns about the harm to families and families." Families will have ignored "society for generations".
"The Bible teaches that God conceived marriage as a lifelong union of a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19: 4-6)," said Ciarán Kelly from the institute.
"It also makes it clear that all human life is created in God's image and is therefore intrinsically valuable from conception (Genesis 1:26; Psalm 139: 14-16). These truths remain whatever politicians may say . "
