If I preached this Easter day, I would preach to Mark 16.8, the women at the grave, and especially to the last words: “They didn't say anything to anyone because they were afraid. . . ”

It is often pointed out that the Greek of this sentence prefixed "for. . . ”As if the sentence was accidentally or intentionally left unfinished. Most ancient authorities end the book in this abrupt manner. Mark's more optimistic short and long ends are probably not original.
