PEN Sweet potato pizza crust

This sweet potato pizza crust could be the paleo-lemon bar of 2020.

Liiiiike, I had to do it almost 10 times to make it perfect! It always tasted good, but the crispy factor just wasn't there.

But THEN a light bulb came on and I ripped a step out of the cauliflower pizza with Greek yogurt pesto and breakfast cauliflower pizza playbook and rang the sweet potato before adding the "goods"!

VOILA, that was the magic ticket!

So, Pro: Tip Don't skip this step, otherwise you won't be on the way to a crispy crusty crust and you will be sad.

But if you follow my example? The CRISPIEST, healthy pizza crust will be yours to load with toppings and slide into your hungry mouth!

Is the texture of Sweet Potato Pizza Crust different from regular pizza dough?

I just LOVE pizza – everything about it – and I know that I'm not alone in how I feel. I mean it's hot, it's satisfying, it fills up and that CRISPY crust brings me every time. But you don't have to get this pizza goodness in one way! One of my FAVE ways to get these pizza flavors is mine Pizza low carb lasagna with zucchini noodles or conjure up a delicious and simple starter like Pizza bites. If you want regular pizza, but with a healthy note, this crust will not disappoint! It's crispy like the classic pizza crust you know and love!

How to make sweet potato crust from scratch

Set your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and let it preheat completely. In the meantime, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

Peel and dice your sweet potatoes. Place the cubes in a large food processor and process well. Put on a clean kitchen towel and drain off the excess moisture. The more you ring, the crunchier your crust will be!

Put the sweet potato back in the food processor and add all the ingredients other than the cooking spray. Mix until the mixture is well mixed.

Transfer your dough into the prepared pan and squeeze it out until it is very thin (about 1 cm).

to bake

Bake your pizza crust in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Next take it out and spray it with avocado oil and then put it in the oven for another 5-8 minutes or until the top is nicely browned!

Take the pan out of the oven and gently turn it over. Peel off the parchment and put the crust in the oven for another 3-5 minutes.

Turn it over again, top it as desired and bake until the cheese melts! Cut, serve and DISCOVER!

Which toppings go best with a potato crust?

Groceries with which I can change and get creative are by far my FAV. They never get boring because you can spice them up by disguising or disguising them. Pizza is definitely one of those types of food and I mean come on, who doesn't love it? Here are some toppings you can use for this pizza:

  • Sauce: You can traditionally keep it with tomato sauce or use homemade pesto – grab it from me Chicken pesto spaghetti pumpkin recipe.
  • Vegetables: Roasted peppers and onions would be delicious!
  • Protein: Grilled chicken slices, cooked sausage or hot peppers would be DELICIOUS!

This sweet potato pizza crust is so crispy that you won't believe it's gluten, grain, dairy, and sugar free, and it's made from vegetables! Picky eaters will love it too!

total time 1 hour 5 protocol

  • 1 lb sweet potato
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 Cup Almond flour (75 g)
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 TL salt
  • Avocado oil spray

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Peel the potato and cut it into cubes. Place it in a large food processor (mine is 10 cups) and process until it's finely decomposed.

  3. Put on a thin kitchen towel and drain off the excess moisture. Put some muscle in because your crispy crust depends on it!

  4. Place the potato with all the other ingredients (except the spray) back in the food processor and process until they are combined.

  5. Place on the baking sheet and squeeze very thin – about 1/6 inch. * *

  6. Bake for 40 minutes. Then spray the top with avocado oil spray and bake for another 5-10 minutes (you want the crust to turn brown in some places but not black!)

  7. Remove from the oven, gently turn the crust over and peel off the parchment. Bake for another 3-5 minutes.

  8. Turn back, cover and bake until the cheese melts (if used) and REMOVE! ** **.

Recipe notes

* You can express this a little thicker, it just won't get super crispy!

** The crust becomes crispier when it cools down. Let the finished pizza cool down a little before eating!
