Let us thank God for the mothers
“Your children get up and bless them. Her husband praises her: "There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all" (Proverbs 31: 28–29 nlt).
A few years ago, my wife and I said to our sons, "Don't give us presents for Christmas, birthdays, or Mother's Day or Father's Day. We don't want presents. We want a card from you instead. that you write something in it. "
We saved each of these cards.
The best thing you can say to your mother (or woman who is a mother) is, "You are doing a great job." A Wakefield Research survey found that, instead of getting flowers, 85% of millennial new mothers preferred confirmation from family and friends that they were doing a good job.
Proverbs 31 says about the virtuous woman: “Your children get up and bless them. Her husband praises her: "There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all" (verses 28-29 nlt).
Interestingly, in Proverbs 31 we find the longest description of a family member in the Bible. That should tell us a lot about how important mothers are to God.
The connection between mother and child has something special. Who is a child crying for when it falls? Mummy. When mom is not there, dad is a distant second.
Husbands, when was the last time you praised your wife in front of your children? How about in front of total strangers? It's a long way.
Let your mother know that she is valued. Yes, a gift is fine. A card is of course good, especially if you write something on it. She needs to know that you love her and notice all the things she did for you.
On this Mother’s Day weekend, let’s make sure we thank our mothers – and thank God for them.
