A prayer for our nation – your every day prayer
A prayer for our nation
By Debbie McDaniel
"Call it out loud, don't hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. "- Isaiah 58: 1
Sometimes it is difficult to know where to start or how to pray. We only know that we have a deep pain in our hearts crying out for God's mercy and a longing to see him heal our country. And maybe sometimes we wonder how effective our prayers are at all. But God is faithful no matter how we feel and about everything that swirls around us in our nation today.
He hears our prayers, he knows our needs. It is a great force to unite, to turn our hearts to God and to pray in the name of our nation.
Let us remember today the powerful truth on which this nation was founded. We are "one nation under God". It is the place where our true hope lies, not in our leaders, not in our economy, not in the state of our nation today or on another day. Let's pray:
Thank you for your great strength. We praise you for your truth. We are grateful that you have freed us from the grasp of sin and death. Would you be with your people, expand your grace, grant your freedom, offer your protection and strengthen your strength? We ask that you awaken your presence as you have never seen it before. We ask that your name be announced, that any plans to silence the name of Jesus will be frustrated and suppressed. We pray that many will get to know you as Lord and Savior, we pray that many will see your light, that you will open blind eyes and release those who are still detained.
We pray that you will unite your people in honor of your name so that all who call themselves Christians will rise and believe in your great truth. Wake us up, sir! Remind us to live consciously, to redeem time, to listen to your words and to be ready to make a difference in this country. We pray for all authorities to give them your wisdom and judgment when they lead. We ask that you appoint strong, loyal men and women who serve this nation and our people.
We pray for your great healing on our land. Shine your face on us, dear God. We need you now more than ever. Our times are in your hands. Thank you for being rich in mercy and grace. Thank you for being forgiving and merciful. Thank you for being strong and powerful. Thank you for being with us and fighting for us today. Bring honor to your name, oh Lord, for only you are worth it.
In the mighty name of Jesus we pray:
