7 settings of the serving to coronary heart by John Christopher Body
Take a Christ-like attitude
7 Attitudes of the Helping Heart by John Christopher Frame is a powerful little book that will help your Christian life as our eyes are opened to those around us.
This book is permeated with the heart of God. We want to go through life with eyes that help, hands and a heart that cares.
There is a lot of poverty in the world. It can be spiritual. It can be physical. We have to help where we can. We are all very similar in our family desires and have hopes and dreams, even though our circumstances may be very different.
Poverty doesn't define us. It's something we go through. If we can help, we should – no matter how small it seems to you, it could make a big difference to others.
Everyone has problems. "It doesn't matter how small my problems are. They are still real problems. Everyone's problems are big for them." We have to develop empathy and walk alongside others.
We are called to show compassion and be a bearer of hope. Compassion calls to action now. Hope is for future events. "Hope includes believing with God that our actions can make a difference."
As Christians we are vessels of God's love. We need hearts and minds aligned with His. We need to live open lives and be willing to help others. "My giving should be a reflection of what I have, where my heart is and what value I see in others."
At the end of each chapter there is a section entitled “Taking it to the Next Level” for personal reflection.
In the chapters we hear from three people who live in poverty and share excerpts from their lives. This gives the book a personal touch as they are all very relatable.
