"…if my people named by my name modest myself and pray and search my face and turn away from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land. "

– 2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV)

If you read this, you've made it through another year. Regardless of whether the year 2019 was good, bad, mediocre or a combination of all of these, it is time to end this chapter of your life book and start a new one with the title "2020". As a believer on a personal level, it is a wise answer to end 2019 by reflecting, thanking, evaluating and praising God for his blessings, and consecrating him in 2020.

There are also inner workings and practices that we can do for the benefit of all. This is what Scripture 2 Chronicles 7:14 demands: Individual dedication to change and growth in God. And his answer is forgiveness of our sins and collective healing.

Below are five ways to turn the page in 2019 that I suggest could all of us better attune to God in 2020 if we put them into action.

  1. upside downSwitch the site to self-destructive behaviors. Know who you are and who you belong to. John 12: 1 describes exactly who, we believers, are in Christ who gave everything for our salvation:But as many received him, he gave them the right to become children of God, even those who believe in his name. "(NASB) As children of God, it is costly to neglect or abuse ourselves. We need to replenish and engage in the care of the mind, body and soul through healthy, divine life in order to be productive in the kingdom.
  2. Switch the page to self obsession. This is an age of forbearance. But contrary to popular culture and despite the kinship of Christians in the kingdom of God, we are called to be humble. Regarding servants and servant leadership, Jesus instructs in Mark 9:35: "…"If someone wants to be the first, he will be the last and the servant of all. “(NASB) We have a responsibility to serve those responsible and God is happy to help us meet the needs of the invisible and marginalized everywhere.

  3. prayScroll through a lazy prayer life. Do not make your prayer life situational, but outstanding. It is both humiliating and exciting to know that the God of the universe wants to communicate with each of us! As Isaiah 30:21 describes: "Your ears will hear a word behind you:" This is the way, go in "whenever you turn right or left." (NASB) Regular and continuous conversations with God bring peace and orientation.
  4. Scroll on a superficial head knowledge of God. Learn from God by following Christ. As we see in 1 John 2: 6, "Whoever says that he stays in him should go the same way he went." (NASB) This is accomplished by studying his word and his ways. Communicate regularly with the Holy Spirit so that imitating Christ becomes a natural response to your environment.

  5. Scroll down the page on lack of discipline and self-control. In other words, repent. Surrender to Christ and turn 180 ° from sin. There is a scripture that exhorts us:Therefore bear fruit in harmony with repentance. "- Matthew 3: 8 (NASB) Regret, then be the change, not only for yourself, but for the bigger one Good.

We who have confessed our faith in Christ are His children. His Holy Spirit is available to us from the moment we choose to follow him, and he longs to communicate with us all the time. He came not only to save us, but to model the behaviors we need to take care of ourselves and each other and to draw others to him. Let us explore Chapter 2020 through the lens of renewed engagement and devotion to God.

I wish you a healthy, blessed new year!
